In the early hours of Saturday, the 6th of May 2023, hundreds of participants embarked on the DCU Walk for Darkness into Light. Sysco Software sponsored the walk on behalf of our colleague and Lead Project Manager at Sysco Software in Dublin, Jacqui Smith.
The Darkness into Light walk is an annual event of profound significance. It serves as a beacon of hope for individuals impacted by suicide and self-harm, offering an opportunity to connect with the wider community and fostering a sense of belonging and understanding. This event is made possible by a dedicated team of volunteers both in Ireland and abroad, who return year after year to ensure its success.
Jacqui commented, “At 4:15am, I joined family, friends, and neighbours to shine a light on suicide and self-harm. It was a wonderful experience to walk with 700 other people, each with their own very personal reasons for taking part. For me, it was to shine a tiny bit of light on mental health, a cause very close to my heart.”
She further applauded the efforts of all those who took part and expressed gratitude for Sysco Software’s generous donation. “Congratulations to everybody who participated, and a massive thank you to Sysco Software for their very generous contribution to such a great cause.”
Sysco Software’s support of the Darkness into Light walk is part of our broader “Sysco in the Community” initiative. We strongly believe in leveraging our resources to contribute to the betterment of society. We are deeply committed to supporting causes that resonate with our employees, customers, and the communities we serve.
We extend our warmest congratulations to everyone involved in the Darkness into Light 2023. It is through such acts of collective compassion that we can continue to raise awareness, dispel stigmas, and foster hope for those in need.
Sysco Software will continue to stand in the forefront of corporate social responsibility, and we look forward to participating in and supporting more such meaningful events in the future.
Together, we can bring about a brighter tomorrow.
