One such offering is the newly developed app for Business Central that enables users to post item journals to multiple General Ledger accounts using reason codes.

David Reid, Head of Marketing at Sysco Software caught up with Shauna, to discuss the Reason Code App’s features and benefits. Shauna shared her thoughts, stating… 

We've designed this app to help users better analyse stock adjustments for specific scenarios. By using reason codes, the system can automatically select the appropriate G/L accounts for the adjustment, ensuring that the transactions are recorded correctly and easily tracked. This helps to provide a clear and detailed audit trail, making it easier to reconcile inventory levels and resolve any discrepancies ultimately helping to identify the root cause and make the necessary adjustments in their business processes.

The Reason Code App allows each reason code to be matched to a General Business Posting Group, providing users with a flexible setup within the General Posting Setup. This flexibility enables the creation of multiple entries to post adjustments to separate General Ledger accounts. 

As a result, users will be prompted to enter a reason code on any stock journals (such as Item Journal or Physical Inventory journal) to ensure that Business Central posts adjustments to the correct General Ledger account.
